joined ENEL in 2017 as head of the global Fiber Optic Infrastructure, and more recently as head of the global Business Line E-City within the newly formed ENEL X. He started his career in R&D more than 25 years ago, progressively moving to various leadership roles within Telecom Italia, KPN-Qwest, AT&T and Alcatel-Lucent. In the last ten years he has been based in Italy serving within Alcatel-Lucent as CEO of Italy and the Mediterranean Region, and more recently as CEO of SIRTI, the leading Italian Engineering Company operating with more than 4,000 people in the Telecom sector. Stefano has served as Officer in the Italian Navy and holds a Telecommunications engineering degree with honors.
Iñigo Garcia del Cerro Prieto is a Telecommunications Engineer graduated from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, an economist at the Autonomous University of Madrid and holds a Master in Business Administration from IESE Business School, Spain. Mr. Garcia del Cerro acts as CEO – Chief Executive Officer- of UFINET since 2009, having held key positions in the company ever since its inception in 1998. He has been one of the key players responsible for business development in Spain and in Latin America. The main result of his career development in UFINET has been the exponential growth of the company, especially in Central America, with a significant deployment of an important optical fiber network and a presence in over 20 countries.
Javier Lacasa Fuertes is a Telecommunications Engineer graduated “cum laude” form the Public University of Navarre (UPNA) and holds a Master degree in Global Business Administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and an MBA from EADA Business School in Barcelona, Spain. Mr. Lacasa was incorporated with UFINET in 1999, Madrid, Spain as Project Manager and since 2002 migrated to Latin America to become Country Manager of Guatemala. In 2007 was named Director for Central America and since 2009 is EVP – Executive Vice President- for Latin America. Mr Lacasa has been key player for the exponential growth in the region and the geographic expansion of fiber optic and operations in more than 15 countries.
André Afonso holds a degree in Business Administration from Portuguese Catholic University (Oporto – Portugal) and a degree in Accounting and Administration from the Oporto Polytechnic Superior Institute (Portugal). After starting his career in PWC (Price Waterhouse Coopers) as auditor, André moved in 2005 to Endesa, which was later acquired by Enel. He has held different international positions within Enel Group: CFO of Enel Green Power Portugal, CFO of Enel Green Power Brazil & Uruguay, and Head of Planning & Control Enel Brazil. He joined Ufinet in 2019.
Francisco Vallejo holds a degree in Business Administration from the Francisco de Vitoria University (Madrid) and an Executive MBA from the IE Business School (Spain). Mr. Vallejo joined UFINET in 2014. Previously he served as Director of Administration and Control at Ufinet. Francisco started his career as an auditor (KPMG) and later worked in the Transaction Services department (KPMG) providing advisory services in M&A operations where held the position of Senior Manager.
Alvaro de Pablo holds a Law and Business Management degree from Universidad de Navarra, Spain. He joined Ufinet as Chief Corporate Officer after advising Cinven on the sale of the Company. Prior to that, Alvaro worked for 10 years as an investment banker at Natixis Partners and Barclays, in Madrid and New York, advising clients in Spain and Latin America, respectively, across a broad range of transactions (buy-sides, sell-sides, JVs, fairness opinions / valuations and LBOs) and industries (including Oil & Gas, Power, Infrastructure, Telecom, Industrials, and Pharma).
Jose Mir has more than twenty years in the telecommunications market. Among his experience are several years working in Alcatel-Lucent (formerly Alcatel), as worldwide director of SDH and WDM product strategy and as presales and commercial development of the Mediterranean countries. He has led integration and transformation programs in complex organizations with the purpose to follow market and technology evolution and customer satisfaction. Mr. Mir has been CTO of Sirti Spa, the Italian leader in design and management of telecommunication infrastructures from 2014 until 2017. He joined Enel in September 2017 to develop the fiber business, following the successful creation of Open Fiber in Italy, across the country of presence of the energy company.
Pablo Pérez-Bedmar Delgado graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Mr. Pérez-Bedmar has led UFINET’s Business Development Department since late 2014. He defines and develops new business lines and heads M&A processes for the entire company to drive higher value and growth for UFINET. Beginning his career in UFINET over 15 years ago, he has played key positions in Network Development and Business Operations, and recently as Country Manager for Colombia. All this experience has provided him with a solid overview of operations and the business, both in Spain and LATAM.
Juan Carlos Naranjo is an Electronic Engineer, graduated from Universidad del Valle in Colombia. He also has a Business Administration Specialized Degree of from Instituto ICESI university. Mr. Naranjo joined UFINET in 2002 and he serves as a Chief technical officer for Latin America since 2014. He previously worked as a maintenance manager of Colombia as well as Engineering manager of Colombia. He is the main responsible for UFINET’s Network developing and quality achievements in Latin America, having to orchestrate an experienced, multicultural and interdisciplinary technical team.
Alejandro Coyoy is an Electronic, Computer Science and IT Engineer, graduated from Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala. He also has a Master’s degree in Operations Research from the same institute, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Instituto Centroamericano de Administración de Empresas, INCAE Business School. Mr. Coyoy serves as sales manager for Latin America since 2014. He previously worked in various countries in different functional areas since 2002 thanks to his great technical and commercial knowledge level. He is the main responsible for UFINET’s business results in Latin America, having to orchestrate an experienced, multicultural and interdisciplinary commercial team, as well as properly develop the image and brand of the company within the ICT market.
Marco Villascan is an Electronics and Communications Engineer, graduated from the National Polytechnic Institute. Marco has more than 40 years of experience in the mentioned industry in Mexico and has a very well positioned technical-commercial profile. He is also a graduate of both High Management D1 and Higher Direction in Innovation and Technology program – ADIT in IPADE (Pan American Institute in Higher Management). He also holds a degree in Marketing and Telecommunications at ITESM. Mr. Villascan has extensive experience in important areas such as commercial, solutions design and customer service. Likewise, he has carried out important positions such as head of Engineering and Operations in diverse companies. He was selected as Country Manager for UFINET Mexico since April 2017, where he plans to make the company grow in a highly competitive market such the south of North America.
William Aldana has a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from Francisco Marroquín University in Guatemala, and holds an MBA from INCAE Business School, also he has a Program For Leadership development from IESE Business School. In 2004 Mr. Aldana was the Country Manager for a Company in which UFINET had the management control in Nicaragua, also in 2010 he was responsible for starting UFINET business operations in Costa Rica, since 2011 has been occupied the Country Manager position in Guatemala. His main achievement has been the business development that have boosted the company expansion to new markets in Central America, Belize and the south of Mexico. As a Country Manager in Guatemala, the Company has boosted the sales in telecommunications services reaching an important growth in revenues and the fiber optic network development.
Oscar Leonel Quan Lou is a civil engineer graduated from the University of San Carlos of Guatemala and has an MBA from the University Rafael Landívar, Guatemala . Mr. Quan Lou acts as General Manager Ufinet El Salvador and Honduras since February 2014. Previously served as General in Alliance, a company co-shared in Nicaragua February 2008 to February 2014. He has worked in the telecommunications industry since 1998 Manager. Previously, he worked for IBM Guatemala and Xerox Guatemala.
Jose Rodrigo Ricardo Juarez Cordero, is an electronics engineer specialized in telecommunications, graduated from the National University of Engineering (UNI) of Nicaragua, and holds a Master in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance Market from the Central American University (UCA), Nicaragua. Mr. Juarez, acts as Country Manager of UFINET Nicaragua since 2003, recently named vice president of ICT chamber (Nicaragua Internet Association), from 1996 to the present he has been one of the key players responsible for telecommunications networks growth in Nicaragua, developing companies such as Union Fenosa and Gas Natural Fenosa. Among the main objectives and results of his career is the development and growth of UFINET operation in Nicaragua.
Eduardo Palacios Gutierrez is an Industrial Engineer graduated from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) with an expertise in Industrial Organization. He also holds a Master’s degree in Global Business Administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, “cum laude”, as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from EADA – Senior Management and Administration School- in Barcelona, Spain. Mr. Palacios joined UFINET in 2000 in the sales department, and quickly moved to the position of Country Manager for Guatemala for over five years, and since 2010, after the launch of Costa Rica’s operations, has been serving as Costa Rica’s Country Manager. He is now also playing an active role in the development of the Costa Rican Telecommunications Industry, having been coordinator of the Broadband Commission of the Chamber of Information and Communication Technology (INFOCOM) and currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of this chamber.
Jose Andres Quintas Garcia is a Telecommunications Engineer graduated from the University of Vigo and holds an Executive MBA from //Afundación Business School, Spain. With more than 15 years of experience in companies related with UFINET, in 2006 he moves to Panama as Country Manager of the Company where he is responsible for important business development, with a significant deployment of optical fiber and Data Networks.
Ivan Sanchez Medina is an Electronics and Telecommunications Engineer graduated from the University of Cauca and Master in Telematics from the same university. Additionally, he is a PhD candidate of Literature and Linguistics of the Spanish Language at the University of Kentucky. Mr. Sanchez Medina acts as General Director of UFINET Colombia since 2014, having previously held managerial positions in telecommunications companies for the Region of CALA (Caribbean and Latin America) as well as Colombia. He also worked for the Colombian government, serving as Commissioner of the Communications Regulatory Commission of Colombia, in the period 2010-2013, and has been a university professor for the University of Cauca and Distrital University, in Colombia, and University of Kentucky, in USA, among others.
Carlos Riego Martínez is a Telecommunications Engineer graduated from the University of Valladolid. Mr. Riego joined UFINET in 2005 as an important piece of the Operations and Maintenance Department in the headquarters of the company, Madrid. Between 2008 and 2014, he held several positions of responsibility in the technical area, being in first instance responsible for the Technical Office, and later responsible for Network Operation. From 2014 assumed the challenge of leading EMEA’s UFINET NOC, while playing also a key role in transversal projects for the company, such as Network and Services Inventory. Since 2016, he has been the Country Manager of Ecuador, with the objective of replicating UFINET’s success in the rest of the region’s geographies.
Juan Luis Guzmán Arévalo is an electronic engineer from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, where he graduated as “cum laude”. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Strategy from the Francisco Marroquín University and pursued a specialized degree in Telecommunications from the San Carlos University of Guatemala. Mr. Juan Luis Guzmán joined UFINET Guatemala in 2007 as Project Manager in Guatemala. In 2014 he takes a step further and takes the lead of the Network Engineering area for LATAM, promoting the development, homologation, and integration of network transportation in the region. With the expansion of UFINET in South America, along with his experience of almost a decade, in 2016 Juan Luis was promoted as Country Manager of Peru, with the objective of developing the company’s operation as well as setting forth the replication of UFINET’s success model around the world.
is an Electronic Engineer graduated from San Carlos University of Guatemala and holds a Master’s degree in Evaluation and Formulation of Projects from the same institute. Additionally, he is an Executive Master candidate of Business Analytics from INCAE Business School. Mr. Silvestre was incorporated in UFINET Guatemala in 2006 as Operations and Maintenance Engineer. In 2010 he moved to Costa Rica as Network Development Manager to expand the country’s new operation. In 2015 Mario was promoted to Chief Technical Officer of Costa Rica and in 2017 was promoted to Regional Chief Technical Officer in charge of Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Mr. Silvestre was recently promoted as Country Manager of Paraguay to continue the successful model of UFINET in the country.
Ruby Castellanos Castillo is an Electrical Engineer graduated from the Autónoma de Occidente University, Cali, Colombia. She holds a Master’s degree in Informatics and Telecommunications Management and has a degree in Communications and Networks from the University ICESI, Cali. Mrs. Castellanos has been working in UFINET since 2002 where she has been responsible for the Operations and Maintenance of Colombia’s Pacific Zone and led as well as the Telecommunications Outsourcing of the Pacific’s Energy Company. In 2014, She occupied the position of Business Development Manager Latam, taking part in strategic projects that have contributed to the expansion and growth of the company in Latin America. Ruby was recently promoted as Country Manager of Chile and Argentina in order to extend the successful model of UFINET in such geographies.
