The international wholesale neutral operator, UFINET, signed on November 1, 2015 the acquisition of the entire wireless network structure of REICO (Wireless Networks of Costa Rica). “This acquisition represents a major breakthrough and a big plus for our customers, as from now on we can provide a complete connectivity solution nationwide. Our fiber optic network in Costa Rica and the new radio network are fully complementary, increasing and improving our network deployment nationwide, which will reach new places, some of which are really difficult to access, and with very competitive delivery times” says Eduardo Palacios, UFINET’s General Manager in Costa Rica. “We are truly confident that this acquisition will assist in consolidating our position, coverage and service portfolio in Costa Rica. We strongly believe that this action will open new opportunities and scenarios to all our customers.”
With this acquisition, UFINET strengthens its position in the Costa Rican market, thus increasing the coverage of telecommunications nationwide, both in the metropolitan area and in rural areas where the deployment of fiber is sometimes more difficult. The official endorsement of the Telecommunications of Costa Rica (Sutel) was held on Friday, September 18, 2015 after four months of negotiations.
