World Communication Awards chooses I\u00f1igo Garc\u00eda del Cerro Prieto as “CEO of the Year”.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

21st Annual World Communication Awards: For 21 years, the World Communication Awards have recognized innovation and excellence for global telecommunications, and today continue to be the most revered mark of achievement in the telecommunications industry.<\/p>\n

The market has changed considerably since the first awards in 1999 and the relationship between operators and suppliers has been and continues to be redesigned. To reflect this, the categories presented are changed each year and now reflect the latest trends in 5G, AI, transformation, NFV and IoT, as well as the traditional awards such as global operator and wholesaler.<\/p>\n

UFINET was also praised as a regional wholesale operator in the Latin American market.<\/p>\n

About I\u00f1igo Garc\u00eda del Cerro<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I\u00f1igo Garc\u00eda del Cerro Prieto is a telecommunications engineer from Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid, an economist from Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid and holds an MBA from IESE Business School, Spain.<\/p>\n

Mr. Garc\u00eda del Cerro has actively participated in the development of UFINET as a fast-growing company, both organically and through mergers and acquisitions. In 2017, led a process to segregate our Spanish operations structure to drive and focus on Latam growth, valuing Spanish operations at a record multiple. The process lasted almost a year, and the results meant the birth of UFINET as the gateway to Latam connectivity. In 2018, I\u00f1igo also led negotiations with ENEL (a major player in the global electricity and gas distribution market) for this company to acquire a 21% stake in UFINET.<\/p>\n

I\u00f1igo has always been a results-oriented leader while considering our human resources as the company’s most valuable assets. He has always empowered his people, enabling them to grow the company through the use of creativity and innovation.<\/p>\n

In the last 24 months, UFINET has been involved in a strong inorganic evolution, acquiring a number of companies and infrastructures (in Paraguay, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Chile and Argentina), as well as opening new operations in different countries such as Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile and Brazil.<\/p>\n
